As Super Bowl LIV was hosted in Miami, Florida, a city rich in diversity, especially with the Latino community, the halftime show displayed a melting pot of sorts with artists J-Lo and Shakira dancing and singing and expressing for cultures present in the area.

Mixing in some Spanish and the U.S. and Cuban flags, and exposing their mid-drift, some in the Ohio Valley of course took much offense to the halftime show.

Cheryl Robertson posted on WTOV’s Facebook page while riding her privileged horse stating that the halftime show as too Latino and had no place in the “American Super Bowl.” Robertson also complained you couldn’t understand what they were saying and that they should put some clothes in because very young kids are watching a “ball game, not a booty contest.”

Robertson later added that in American you should speak English and not have to press 1 for English and that she is tired of accommodating others. (These comments are all true btw if we forgot to mention.)

Charlie N Tracey Rago (a joint Facebook account) says “Last I checked this is America and not Latin America.”

Herod Bedford showed his ignorance saying maybe next year they’ll include gay and lesbians in the halftime performance. (Again a reminder these are real comments)

Stephanie Mccombs somehow tied the halftime show to politics by saying that’s “what you get when people vote Democrat.”

Nathan Kepner wanted to remind everyone that America’s first language is English. We’re assuming this person did not shine in high school.

Betsy Westfall did not like the performance and literally suggested the WVU Marching Band to do the halftime show next year.

Jacob Macgregor says the halftime show was horrible with not enough English and that the halftime show shows how much the NFL has gone down hill.

So now that football is over, we can all go back to complaining about construction on I-70. And hopefully the NFL’s Commissioner Roger Goodell asks the Ohio Valley next year for such great suggestions as to what next year’s halftime show will be.

Who knows, maybe we can watch a local high school football team’s marching band play while some pioneer re-enactors show us how to churn butter?
