A new trend in social media, first reported locally by WTRF, allegedly has a character named “Momo” who tells the user to do harmful things to themselves.  It’s trending currently on social media sites and we at Ohio Valley Newz decided to reach out directly to “Momo” to hear their side of the story.

At 3 a.m., we contacted “Momo” and immediately she responded.  The response however, was even scarier than what was originally reported.

“Momo” started talking to us about renewable energy and how it would be beneficial to our future and the future of humans to come.  She stated that using things like wind, solar and even water to help power our towns and our future is the way to go.  Then she angrily started texting us about the dangers of coal, oil and gas as well and its impact on the future of Mother earth.

“It’s very disturbing that this ‘Momo’ is reaching out to our kids and spouting off about renewable energy when we have great coal and gas resources right here in the valley,” said Tom Fenderson.

“Obviously ‘Momo’ doesn’t care about jobs in this area,” said retired coal miner Bob Mason.
